Energy Conservation
Energy conservation is important within the Community Action network. MACA represents 19 Community Action Agencies across Missouri who administer several programs to assist low-income families with high energy costs.
The mission of the Low Income Home Energy Assistance Program or LIHEAP is to assist low income households, particularly those with the lowest incomes that pay a high proportion of household income for home energy, primarily in meeting their immediate home energy needs. Within LIHEAP is ECIP or the Energy Crisis Intervention Program for emergency assistance. Another program administered by many Community Action Agencies is Weatherization. Weatherization programs help people make their homes more efficient.
These programs help low-income Missourians pay their energy bills and make their homes more energy efficient. For information on how you can be more energy efficient, the Missouri Department of Natural Resources has a booklet: Energy Savers, Tips on Saving Energy and Money at Home.
