Missouri Academy for Leadership and Community Action

The Missouri Academy for Leadership and Community Action is designed to provide you with the critical leadership and management skills you need now and for your future.  A collaborative learning process that incorporates development, mentoring, networking opportunities and the creation of a portfolio will allow you to explore your leadership style, develop your leadership aptitude and empower yourself and others. 2014-2015 class is currently in session.

Family Development Credential (FDC) Program

The FDC Program is a professional development course and credentialing program through the University of Connecticut for frontline family workers to learn and practice skills of strength-based family support.  FDC offers an experiential and supportive adult learning environment that promotes discussion and reflection.  MACA became the State Coordinator for this program in Fall of 2013.

As a part of Region 7 grant initiatives this year, each state in the region is hosting a webinar focused on an Organizational Standards or ROMA related topic.  The Kansas Association of Community Action Programs (KACAP) will be hosting the second webinar for the year and is contracting with Melanie Herman of the Nonprofit Risk Management Center to present the information.  A registration link will be released to region soon.

The 3-day ROMA Certification Training is step two of the certification process, which involves demonstration of understanding of the basic concepts related to ROMA, demonstration of the ability to present these concepts in a training setting, and acceptance of the role of the ROMA Trainer in the national training network.  Registration for this event is now closed.

2015 MACA Annual Conference Community Action:  Education, Motivation, Inspiration

The overall goal of the 2015 MACA Annual Conference is to educate, motivate, and inspire attendees by the great things that are happening in Community Action. As State Coordinator, MACA will be hosting a 3-day training institute for prospective Family Development Credential (FDC) facilitators.  If you are interested in facilitating the Empowerment Skills for Family Workers curriculum in your agency, contact Courtney Kohler at ckohler@communityaction.org.  An application process is required for this training.

Community Action Network Day – Cardinals vs. Royals Baseball

The Missouri Community Action Network (Missouri CAN) will be making another appearance at Busch Stadium as the two Missouri teams battle it out.  MACA has contracted with the Cardinals for 600 tickets and the promotion of Community Action during the game.  Contact your agency directors or MACA for ticket information!
