Help us protect Community Action's core funding and the programs that are supported through the Community Services Block Grant. Did you know that Missouri's Community Action Agencies helped 288,569 individuals in Funding Year 2009 (that's October 1, 2009 through September 30th, 2010 if you weren't sure of how funding years work)? Of those served:
The Community Services Block Grant is crucial to providing locally developed responses to locally identified problems. Each agency conducts regular needs assessments in the community. When a gap is identified, then the local community action agency is able to develop a response using Community Services Block Grant funds.

Explain to your Congressional members that balancing the budget and cutting the federal deficit is important but not at the expense of social programs that help the poorest Americans remain stable. Provide examples of the kinds of programs that Community Action administers in your community to help people with limited resources, children, senior citizens, and the disabled.
