IMPORTANT UPDATE: CONFERENCE LODGING
All guest rooms at the Hilton Kansas City Airport conference location are full during the conference timeframe. If you have not yet made hotel reservations, Missouri CAN has secured a group rate at a nearby hotel that is within walking distance to this event:
Hampton Inn Kansas City Airport Hotel
11212 N Newark Circle
Kansas City, MO 64153
Please call the Hampton Inn Kansas City Airport Hotel directly at 816-464-5454 to make your reservations. Tell the booking agent that you are reserving under the Missouri Community Action Network group block. Rooms rates are $104 per night for this off-site location.
Although the Hampton Inn is within walking distance to the Hilton event space, we recognize this creates inconvenience for some conference attendees. We’ve got you covered! Hampton Inn and Hilton will be providing shuttle service for guests to and from the Missouri CAN conference space for guests staying at the Hampton. More information will be provided on site at the conference to address this concern.
We recognize the no vacancy at Hilton may have delayed your room reservation process. Therefore, we have secured an extended room reservation deadline at Hampton for attendees who have yet to reserve lodging. Cutoff to book a hotel room is May 6. Reminder: conference registration deadline is also May 6.
About
2019 Missouri CAN Annual Conference
“Break Your Mirrors”
Date: Tuesday, May 21-Thursday, May 23, 2019
Location: Hilton Kansas City Airport
8801 NW 112th Street, Kansas City, MO
“Break your mirrors! Yes indeed—shatter the glass. In our society that is so self-absorbed, begin to look less at yourself and more at each other. Learn more about the face of your neighbor and less about your own.” Sargent Shriver, the founder of Community Action, gave this call to action during his remarks at Yale’s College Class Day 25 years ago. The 2019 Missouri Community Action Network Annual Conference heeds Shriver’s call to go beyond the surface by extending compassion to our neighbors and service to our communities in active and intentional ways.
We have an exciting slate of content geared toward breaking our mirrors—workshops about agency and board engagement, sessions highlighting tools and projects with community impact, and two incredible keynote speakers: Doug Luffborough and Mark Shriver. This conference is a great opportunity to network with community partners and Community Action staff as well as reignite the passion for serving that is at the core of Community Action. Here is everything you need to know.
